In 1979, the Congress of the United States created an award called The Congressional Award to honor individuals who had shown initiative, dedication, and success. The Congressional Award is a private-public partnership that was founded as a result of the enabling legislation known as Public Law 96-114. This partnership derives all of its financing from the private sector. Certificates of Bronze, Silver, and Gold, as well as Medals of Bronze, Silver, and Gold, are awarded to participants. Setting objectives in each of the four program areas—Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration—is a requirement for achieving each level.

People in the United States are recognized for their initiative, service, and achievements with the Congressional Award. The Congressional Award is an honor bestowed to people in the United States by the United States Congress. It is non-competitive, voluntary, and non-partisan, all at the same time. It is not easy to get this recognition as it requires a lot of dedication in the areas of volunteerism and philanthropy. Dr. BabajideAgunbiade is among those who are dedicated to volunteerism and philanthropy. Let’s explore his journey to receive US Congressional Recognition.

The United States Congress, via Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, issued a Congressional proclamation in November of 2021 honoring Atobasse Dr. BbabjideAguinbiade by designating November 12 as “Atobasse Dr. BbabjideAguinbiade day.” According to the proclamation, Dr. Agunbiade is a “strong pillar in Houston and among Nigerians who have committed their energies to give back to neglected areas and have played essential roles in numerous social movements abroad.” According to the United States Congress, “Since 2015, Dr. Jide has partnered with local businesses to establish one of the largest Oil and Gas networking events and has hosted a number of international dignitaries to develop and benefit the E & P economy in Houston.” This event took place in Houston. In addition to constructing water systems in Nigeria and donating a library to a high school in the Houston region, he has provided financial assistance to children from all across Houston so that they may attend HBCUs. It is wonderful that these excellent efforts are being made in order to benefit the cities of Houston and Nigeria via the provision of mentoring, the development of communities, educational scholarships, and worldwide recognition. “To be recognized by none other than the United States Congress via a legend like Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is really humbling,” said Dr. Jide.
