Musk Shuts Down USAID, Leaving Gates Furious.
Elon Musk: “I don’t have time for your sneaky games.”
The rivalry between Elon Musk and Bill Gates is no secret. Their heated exchanges have been ongoing for quite some time.
Recently, Musk made a bold move by shutting down the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), a decision that had American citizens cheering. However, Gates was enraged and immediately voiced his dissatisfaction online. Musk, unfazed by the backlash, responded directly: “I don’t have time for your sneaky games.”
Why Are Musk and Gates Bitter Rivals?
Their feud dates back to the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Gates heavily invested in vaccine development and aggressively promoted global immunization efforts. However, many Americans accused him of using vaccines as a means to control humanity. Gates defended his actions, stating that vaccines were essential in protecting people from the virus. The public, however, remained skeptical, with some believing that Gates profited from both creating the problem and selling the solution—one of the reasons he became one of the world’s richest men.
Despite their stark differences, few people know that Musk and Gates were once classmates. Gates majored in Computer Science and Mathematics—one of the most prestigious fields at the time. Similarly, Musk studied Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Both were considered prodigies.
However, their academic paths rarely overlapped, and Musk had never paid much attention to Gates. That changed in 2020 when the pandemic struck and Gates came under fire. Musk took to social media to side with the public, solidifying the rift between them.
Did Musk Buy Twitter to Take Down Gates?
After acquiring Twitter in 2023, Musk swiftly dismissed the existing board and appointed his own successor. Many speculated about his true intentions behind the purchase—was he aiming to take down Gates? Given the level of hostility between the two, such a theory doesn’t seem far-fetched.
That said, Musk’s Twitter acquisition has strained his financial resources. Let’s hope he doesn’t run into unexpected trouble along the way.
