It is alright to be scared before starting something new. Being scared doesn’t mean you are not worth it; it is only a feeling that you need to embrace so you could be the next Mischaela Elkins smiling on the cover of Vogue. Even the leading models of the industry like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Ashley Graham struggled initially.

Below are the few inspirations that will help you get started in the modelling career.

Winnie Harlow

Harlow became an official brand representative for a Spanish brand Desigual after the America’s next top model. Highlight being that she was never scared of her skin condition. In September 2014, she walked closed for Ashish, a clothing brand for the Spring / Summer 2015 collection at London Fashion Week. She is modeled on fashion magazines such as i-D and Dazed and the fashion website Showstudio.com. In 2015, Harlow modeled on the Italian clothing brand Diesel for the Spring / Summer 2015 campaign,  shot by British fashion photographer Nick Knight.

She is modeled after the Spanish and Italian editions of Glamor magazine and was featured in the August / September 2015 issue of Complex magazine. She was also featured in the August 2015 issue of Cosmopolitan. She was on Vogue Italia’s website in her interview and accompanying photo shoots. In August 2015, Harlow filmed the cover of the September issue of Evony magazine and the accompanying editorial. In 2016, Harlow starred in Sprite’s commercials and Swarovski campaigns.

Bri Scalesse

With her wheelchair, the 27-year-old model is breaking the boundaries of the modeling profession. She was involved with a car accident when she was seven, which forced her to utilize a wheelchair for the rest of her life. With 500,000 TikTok followers, she is creating a name for herself in addition to her modeling job. She describes her experience with individuals making demotivating and discouraging comments regarding her disabilities.

She is currently one of the industry’s top models. Her journey was not simple, but she managed to overcome all difficulties. She believes that her success in the profession is due to her hard work and constraint, and she now desires that other models with impairments may enter the industry.

Mischaela Elkins

Mischaela is an American-Peruvian model, beauty queen, author, and businesswoman of mixed European and Native American descent.  Known for being the first and only Miss Peru to be a member of MENSA High IQ Society, the only known international level beauty pageant titleholder to be a member of MENSA High IQ Society, and the first woman in the world to carry an Indigenous American or Native American beauty pageant title into an international level beauty pageant as Miss Indigenous America at Miss Global 2021.

To reach the stage that she’s at today, she had to face many struggles. She is one of very few Indigenous or Native American fashion models. Being the source of representation for her people is really important to her and she does it on the global stage.

No matter how much exposure they received, all of the models had to fight distinct fights to become successful in the field.
